Loan CriteriaChild Care Lending Initiative

The Proposed Activity Must:

For Nonprofit Child Care Centers:

  • Help people with low- and moderate-incomes (per the Federal Poverty Guidelines) set by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services).
  • Have long-term community benefit and social impact.
  • Have a demonstrated source of income to repay the loan.
  • Demonstrate community support.
  • Attract other resources to the effort.

For Family-based Providers:

  • Be used for your family child care business.
  • Enhance your program, or help you to meet state licensing requirements.
  • Reflect your commitment to your business and willingness to participate in training opportunities.

What Happens Next:

  • If the project is appropriate for consideration, the next step is to submit a letter of request, or for family child care, submit a loan application (PDF) with supporting materials as requested.
  • The request is reviewed by staff members and/or the Loan Fund Loan Review Committee.
  • Once a decision has been made, a staff member will contact you with the decision and any conditions.
